Three Quick Ways to Heal the Body, Relieve Anxiety and Reduce Stress

Karen Morris

The air is warmer and summer will quickly be here, but lately I’ve noticed quite a few patients struggling with inflammation, increased levels of stress and unmanageable anxiety. I thought I’d make this week’s blog about some simple, but not often thought of, ways to reduce these symptoms. So, here are three quick, effective ways to heal and help your body in just a matter of minutes!

Box Breathing

Breath control regulates your autonomous nervous system, slows your heart rate and calms your thoughts. Box Breathing is a very effective and easy way to reclaim your breath in just a few minutes. This technique was developed by U.S Navy Seal Mark Divine, who attributes this style of breath control to saving his life many times. Like a box, this technique has four parts and is very easy to do anywhere, anytime. Start by emptying your lungs then

  1. Inhale for four counts
  2. Hold the breath for four counts
  3. Release the breath for four counts
  4. Hold your lungs empty for four counts

And repeat the cycle for five minutes or longer for maximum effect. Try this before your next meeting or whenever you find yourself feeling anxious or stressed. In conjunction with this breathing technique, you can also incorporate my Anxiety Herb Dropswhich include the healing properties of passionflower, chamomile, withania and lime flowers and is a powerful addition to any life that is seeking more peace, and less stress.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy works by surrounding the body with a very cold mist set to -150 degrees for about 1 to 3 minutes. The process works by decreasing cell growth (cellular metabolism), decreasing inflammation, decreasing pain and increasing cell survival. Signs of an inflamed body include joint pain, redness, puffiness and swelling. If you are suffering from any of these, I also highly recommend incorporating my Inflammation Herbal Extract Dropswhich will gently alleviate inflammation in joints, tendons and muscles.

Gentle Exercise

Sometimes the idea of a big workout at the gym can deter us from doing any exercise at all. When we are struggling with anxiety, the benefits of even just a light 20 minute walk cannot be overstated. If you feel stressed, anxious or nervous, head outside for a walk around the block, focus on your breath and feel the sun and breeze on your skin, and pay attention to the feeling of each foot making contact with the pavement. Exercise is a powerful, immune boosting method of easing stress and reducing anxiety, just 30 minutes a day can change your health on a profound level.
