Saffron, Lutein & Zeaxanthin – 60caps

Description

EYE HEALTH

Carotenoids, like Lutein and Zeaxanthin, are important components of the macula. They are not synthesised by the body and must be obtained from the diet. These carotenoids are strong antioxidants and are selectively taken up by the macula where they absorb up to 90% of blue light.

Saffron is a spice made from the flower of Crocus sativus. Its characteristic taste and aroma comes from the antioxidants Picrocrocin and Safranal. Its colour is due to the antioxidant carotenoid Crocin.

After three weeks of treatment with saffron, IOP (eye pressure) was significantly decreased to 10.9 ± 3.3 mmHg in the saffron group as compared to 13.5 ± 2.3 mmHg in the control group (p = 0.013). At four weeks, IOP was still significantly lower in the saffron group (10.6 ± 3.0 versus 13.8 ± 2.2 mmHg, p = 0.001).

Lutein and zeaxanthin, with its strong antioxidative effects, can represent a viable solution in the complex treatment of glaucoma.

BENEFITS OF SAFFRON ON WEIGHT LOSS

May Reduce Appetite and Aid Weight Loss
According to research, saffron may help prevent snacking by curbing your appetite. In one eight-week study, women taking saffron supplements felt significantly more full, snacked less frequently, and lost significantly more weight than women in the placebo group.

Saffron as a weight loss aid is because of its reported impact on metabolism, as it may accelerate thermogenesis, which increases body heat to burn fat cells.
