Key Supplements to Enhance Your Fitness

Karen Morris

As part of my five days of blogs, I thought I would use day four’s blog to talk all about the supplements that can help with fitness. Embarking on a journey to become your healthiest self will always include exercise and when you’re working out a lot, supplements can make a big difference to your recovery. As a general rule, I always tell my patients to exercise everyday, but this doesn’t mean you have to hit the gym everyday. A thirty to forty-five minute walk can get you to the recommended daily ten thousand steps, and it’s ok to do this everyday. Resistance training in the gym will preserve muscle and joint health, while also keeping you strong. Below are my top picks for supplements to include if you are working out a lot, or, if you would simply like to enhance the fitness journey you are currently on. All of the below products are available right here at www.herbsonlineshop.com.

Glutamine

Glutamine is an amino acid which means it is a building block of protein. Glutamine is also especially beneficial for the immune system and the digestive system.

Protein Powder

Protein Powder is a fantastic addition to your diet if you are training, as it is a fast and healthy way to provide your body with the nutrients required to repair muscles after strenuous exercise. I recommend high quality protein powders; a quick scan of the nutrition label will tell you if it is filled with nasties or not.

 Vitamin C

Vitamin C is critical to the growth and repair of the body which makes it essential when exercising. Vitamin C will also support the immune system. Vitamin C can be found in lemons, oranges and broccoli but supplementation is also a great option.

 L-Carnitine Tartrate

L-Carnitine is another essential amino acid and helps with the body’s ability to break down fat and metabolise food. It can also help with the stability of energy levels.

 Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral that helps your body relax and repair. Magnesium is best taken before bed and can prevent muscle spasms, improve insulin sensitivity and nerve function.
