Another busy week this week and after a few patients have expressed an increase in stress due to being back at work, I thought I’d use this week’s blog to discuss how Naturopathy can help reduce stress.

Firstly, let’s start with WHY you may be stressed. If you can eliminate the major contributor to stress in your life, then that’s the first step! However, we all know sometimes this isn’t possible. The next step then, would be to change your perspective of the major contributor to stress. How can you see this differently? What changes can you make that will help the situation? Who can you talk to about this?

Stress is a very common concern in my clinic and I have some wonderful herbs and supplements that can offer relief. My go-to recommendation is my Adrenal Fatigue Liquid Herbal Extract. Made from a blend of herbal extracts that were used to help with tired, overworked adrenals, high stress levels, anxiety and insomnia this beautiful remedy is my go-to when a patient is seeking to reduce stress. A powerful combination of Rehmania, Siberian ginseng, passionflower and Withania act to immediately calm the nervous system and support the health of the adrenal glands.

Incorporating some of the below tips can also help to significantly reduce stress

• Exercise everyday – exercise is proven to reduce cortisol levels in the body. It can also help to improve circulation and increase energy levels, improve sleep and reduce anxiety.

• Talk about it – if you’re struggling with stress, opening up and talking about it will allow you to release suppressed emotions and help your body and mind to relax, re-evaluate and recover.

• Sleep! When stress levels are high, our bodies (like our minds) are often overworked. Ensuring you are getting enough sleep is vital in order to reduce stress. 8 hours a night is ideal if you can manage it, or take advantage of naps during the day.
