Lomatium – Anti-Viral Liquid Herbal Extract

This week I would like to share some information on one of my liquid herbal extracts which I feel is key to highlight at this particular time – Lomatium Liquid Herbal Extract
Lomatium is an anti-viral treatment for illnesses such as influenza, shingles, measles, chicken pox, mononucleosis and epstein barr. It also has the ability to help relieve upset stomach that frequently accompanies the flu. Due to the high potency of antiviral properties in Lomatium, it is a wonderful antidote for infections of the upper respiratory tract, such as bronchitis and asthma. The dosage for Lomatium is (for Adult Dose for prevention) – 2ml daily.
The fast and effective nature of Lomatium on cold, cough and flu symptoms comes down to it’s ability to support the immune system by reducing inflammation and easing irritation. There have also been plenty of studies including This study which showed that it inhibited the effects of rotavirus. Clinical reports demonstrate its wide use for a range of viral conditions, from the traditional use against respiratory and urinary tract infections, to apparent efficacy against chronic “slow” viral infections such as Epstein Barr virus, cytomegalovirus and human herpes viruses
Due to it’s anti Inflammatory properties, Lomatium helps to decrease swollen joints, and reduce edema. It may also be useful for urinary tract and bladder infections and I have had several patients report that the severity of their symptoms were reduced greatly within one to two days.
So what exactly is Lomatium? Well it is about 75 species of perennial herbs native to western North America; its common names include biscuitroot, Indian parsley, and desert parsley. The species has been used for hundreds of years for food, medicine and ceremonial purposes by the native peoples of North America, and prized as a panacea for a myriad of health conditions.
It first came to prominent attention during the great influenza pandemic of 1918-1920, where a US physician working with the Washoe people of Northern Nevada reported a significant reduction in mortality amongst the native people using the herb compared to the general population. Safe to say, it sounds like the perfect herb for our world right now!!
Some things to consider when taking Lomatium is that it may also intensify the effects of anticoagulants (blood thinners) and immunostimulants. Also please do not take if pregnant.
